BRIGHT MINDS MUSIC STUDIO POLICY
Current as at October 2026
Â
Overview
Â
By enrolling in classes with Bright Minds Music, you agree to this Studio Policy. Please read it carefully and contact us with any questions.
Â
Bright Minds Music may update this policy from time to time. Changes will take effect upon publication on our website, with significant changes communicated to families where appropriate.
Â
Studio Calendar & Enrolment
Â
Classes operate during Victorian school terms and follow the Victorian School Calendar. Classes are not held on public holidays, school holidays or long weekends unless otherwise advised.
Â
Bright Minds Music follows a sequential curriculum, with designated intake periods throughout the year. Students joining after an intake begins may require additional private catch-up lessons at an extra cost.
Â
Fees & Payment
Â
Tuition is charged per term and payable in advance by the invoice due date. Payment secures your child's place and covers tuition, preparation, administration, curriculum licensing, professional development, insurance and studio operating costs. Students may not attend until fees are paid.
Â
Additional charges may apply for books, catch-up lessons, performances, examinations or optional events. Fees are reviewed periodically, with advance notice of any changes.
Â
Home Practice & Student Responsibilities
Â
Students are expected to arrive on time, bring the required materials and complete assigned home activities where applicable.
Â
Parents/carers play an important role in supporting learning and establishing regular home practice routines. Resources may include weekly activity sheets, Practice Buddy, backing tracks and demonstration videos.
Â
Piano students are strongly encouraged to have access to a well-maintained instrument at home. A full-sized 88-key keyboard with weighted keys is preferable.
Â
Parent Attendance & Learning Partners
Â
Bright Minds Music uses a learning partner model, where a parent/carer or nominated adult supports the child's learning during lessons and at home. This role may be fulfilled by a grandparent, family member, carer or another nominated adult.
Â
Jungle Music, Music is Fun & Junior Keys:Â The learning partner attends the lesson and sits beside the child, actively supporting their participation and learning.
Â
Piano Keys:Â The learning partner must remain at the studio throughout the lesson. They are encouraged to observe and remain involved in the learning process, but may sit quietly in the waiting area, work quietly or wait outside nearby.
Â
Supervision, Safety & Studio Expectations
Â
Classes are taught in small groups with one teacher. Bright Minds Music is not a drop-off facility, and a responsible adult must remain at the studio and available throughout the lesson.
Â
As the teacher supervises the group, learning partners may need to assist their child with emotional regulation, bathroom needs, minor injuries or other unexpected situations. If you are delayed, please bring your child when you arrive rather than dropping them off and returning later.
Please keep the following in mind:
Â
-
Children who are unwell or displaying flu-like symptoms must not attend.
-
Please advise Bright Minds Music of any relevant medical, behavioural, developmental or additional support needs that may affect your child's participation or wellbeing.
-
Bright Minds Music cannot administer medical treatment.
-
Children should use the bathroom before class and wash or sanitise their hands when requested.
-
Food is not permitted in the teaching studio. Water bottles with secure lids are welcome.
-
Adults should minimise conversation and phone use during lessons, and late arrivals should enter quietly.
-
Siblings are welcome with a quiet activity. One learning partner may supervise multiple children attending together.
-
Parents/carers are responsible for wilful damage caused by their child to studio property or equipment beyond normal wear and tear.
